READING OF NAMES OF THOSE KILLED IN COMBAT

I will be part of this event. I be reading names for an hour either Sunday or Monday morning. I have done it in the past and can tell you it is a very simple, respectful and powerful event. It is neither pro-war, nor anti-war. It simply remembers all of those who have given their lives for our freedoms.

For the fifth year, Broadmoor Community Church will remember and honor those in the United States Military who have given their lives in Operation Enduring Freedom and the war in Iraq. Last year we read the names of over 4,000 individuals who died since the beginning of the current conflicts. Over seventy church members and friends participated by reading names. It is estimated that during this year's reading we will read over 5,000 names. Beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 29 and continuing through 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 30, an estimated 18 hours, we will pay our respects to these men and women by reading their names, ages, hometowns and military units. If you have questions or would like to sign up to participate please contact Tom Schmidt at wills.man@hotmail.com.
